The CoRIPS Research Grant funds projects related to any aspect of the science and practice of radiography. Applications for this grant are considered on a first come first served basis, with a maximum of 10 applications being assessed per round.

Bids of up to £5,000 for small projects and up to £10,000 for one larger project will be considered. Matched funding or other institutional contributions would be advantageous. Applicants are reminded that the College expects patient and public involvement to be factored in from the very first stages of research proposal development.

Grants available include:

Doctoral Fellowship Grant

There are two Fellowship Grants of up to £25,000 available for candidates in the following research topics:

  • Accuracy and safety
  • Technological innovations
  • Public and patient experience
  • Service and workforce transformation
  • Education and training
  • Application deadline: Monday 7 April 2025

Applicants must be full members of the SoR and registered with the HCPC or appropriate voluntary register.

They should be in receipt of a full or conditional offer for doctoral studies at a UK university in one of the five research areas mentioned above and they must provide at least one submission to Radiography journal.

Applicants must also provide evidence of support from their employer if remaining in part-time employment because research will require time out from normal work duties.

Overseas Conference Attendance Grant

If you would like to attend a professional conference outside the UK to present your work, this grant can help to fund your trip.

  • Grant value: up to £1,000
  • Support for: individuals or a small team to travel overseas to present the findings of their research as an oral paper
  • Where: outside the UK; however, consideration will also be given to virtual event attendance
  • Application deadline: Friday 27 September 2024

Applicants should submit a 1,500-word proposal outlining their work, how their paper is expected to make an impact on patient care and the expected outcomes from the work.

CoRIPS Research Grant

Designed to support radiographers with little or no research experience, the CoRIPS Research Grant can fund a collection of small projects or one larger project.

  • Grant value: up to £5,000 for small projects; up to £10,000 for one larger project
  • Projects: individuals or small groups
  • Application deadline: Monday 7 October 2024

The awards are part of the CoR’s Research Strategy (2021-26) commitment to supporting radiographers in undertaking research-based practice.

Pre-registration Student Dissertation Award

This award celebrates research undertaken by radiography pre-registration students. Each year, education providers delivering radiography programmes approved by the College of Radiographers will be invited to submit one application from their radiotherapy and diagnostic pre-registration programmes (where both disciplines are delivered, the provider will submit one application for each discipline).

A prize will be awarded for the best diagnostic and the best therapeutic pre-registration student dissertations, and these will be presented at the annual Society of Radiographers’ Radiography Awards ceremony. The prize will be awarded directly to the student.

Prize value: £300 per winner

Deadline: Friday 30 May 2025
