Marcus Jackson
(Appointed Trustee)

Marcus is an associate professor and professional lead for diagnostic radiography at St George’s University of London. Marcus has sat on the Imaging and Therapy Practice Editorial Board and Approval and Accreditation Board and regularly reviews articles for Radiography. He is an academic experienced in senior leadership and management at both faculty and institutional level. Marcus has held strategic leadership roles in the NHS which are complemented by 24 years of knowledge and skills gained in the higher education sector.

Sue Webb
(Nominated Trustee)

Before beginning her career as a radiographer, Sue had worked in a bank, had two children and then worked in a nursery school for eight years. She lost her husband to cancer and this inspired her to study to become a radiographer. She has worked at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford since graduating, working in all fields of diagnostic radiography and now specialising in CT and colonography. She is passionate about raising the profile of the profession with the public. Sue qualified as a diagnostic radiographer in 1995. She is a CT senior radiographer at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford Essex. She was an Industrial Relations rep from 1997 and an active member of the Eastern Region committee, and was elected as Council member in 2013 and was President 2018/19. 

“I am proud to be a radiographer and in a position to be able to promote the profession, with an emphasis on patient care - patients are the at centre of all we do and must be our focus. In my capacity as Vice Chair, I intend to carry on promoting the profession and advancement of radiographers to the highest level.”

Dave Pilborough
(Nominated Trustee)

After completing a degree in accountancy and finance, and two years spent crunching numbers, Dave came late to radiography. After some personal motivation and a chance reading of an advert in a local paper, Dave studied radiotherapy and oncology at Liverpool University and trained at the Royal Preston Hospital. Having been a student rep on two occasions, taking up the role of IR rep seemed a natural step. Dave was IR rep at the Royal Surrey Hospital, before moving to the Midlands and continuing the role at the Royal Derby Hospital where he is now a Treatment Team Leader.

Tom Welton
(Nominated Trustee)

Qualified as a diagnostic radiographer, Tom has worked in multiple modalities including CT, MRI and projectional radiography. Currently Tom is the lead practice educator at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals working in collaboration with the University of Cumbria. Along with Tom's undergraduate commitment, he has multiple other responsibilities including heading radiography professional outreach, writing and leading the Radiology preceptorship programme and chairing both the Radiology and AHP research champions committees. 

Tom is an advocate for radiographer professional development and AHP workforce collaborations. He is also a campaigner for mental health wellbeing, particularly in the healthcare setting for professionals.

Katie Thompson,
(Nominated Trustee)

Katie qualified as a diagnostic radiographer in 1993 at the Lincolnshire School of Radiography, then training as a sonographer at Cardiff University Hospitals. Katie has worked in the NHS all of her career, working at Princess Margaret Hospital, The Great Western Hospital, Gloucester Royal and Cheltenham General. Katie really enjoys teaching and has set up training programmes for midwives to perform presentation scans and a gynae and early pregnancy programme for the obs and gynae rotational doctors, for which she was nominated and won the Southwest Deanery trainee of the year.

Katie became an Industrial Relations rep around 10 years ago, winning Southwest Rep of the Year in 2019. Katie became part of the UK Council in 2020 to become more involved in the SoR organisation and to help promote the radiography profession and represent the interests of all Society members.

Chris Kalinka
(Nominated Trustee)

Chris has worked in clinical radiography in most modalities, including nuclear medicine, CT and interventional. He has more than 30 years of radiography experience in four different organisations in Wales and has been a professional lead for 17 years.

Chris said: “In my role as a College trustee I want to to influence the professional policy, guidance and research aspects of the profession.

“I believe the college has a vital role in radiography education and professional development and would encourage all CoR members to participate actively in our professional body.”

Rob Emery
(Appointed Trustee)

Rob is an approachable and experienced people leader, with a broad range of industry experience across sales and operations within the healthcare sector. He has a degree in International Business along with a Chartered Institute of Marketing Diploma. Rob has worked for Philips since 2004 where he has held a variety of roles including service director and his current role of regional director. In his role as College trustee, Rob aims to bring his industry experience to bear and advocate strongly for patient and staff experience.

Martin Hughes
(Appointed Trustee)

Martin qualified as a lawyer in 2007 and he has spent most of his working life advising on commercial and business law. He has supported brands ranging from small start-ups to billion-dollar enterprises and across private and public sector services. His previous roles include being head of legal and company secretary to the board of an international plc and Assistant General Counsel to a $16 billion global consultancy and workforce solutions business. He presently operates as a legal consultant and data protection officer to a leading private healthcare and optometry organisation. His work goes beyond technical legal advice and he is always keen to develop and implement new strategies and operations for businesses as well as overseeing compliance with regulatory obligations. As an LGBT+ individual, Martin is passionate about diversity and inclusion, and he has previously coached and mentored executive leadership on unconscious bias awareness.

Joe Omorodion
(Appointed Trustee)

Joe is a fellow member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and an associate member of the Chartered Governance Institute. He also has MBA (leadership focus) and MSc (strategic management accounting) degrees. Joe started his career in audit in the private sector. Joe then moved to the non-profit (NP) sector as he wanted to work for social impact organisations that improved people's quality of life. Over the last three decades in the NP sector, Joe has worked with numerous senior executive teams and boards of trustees of UK and international organisations with public benefit mandates. These include education, advocacy, human rights and regulatory healthcare. Joe's areas of interest and expertise include corporate strategy and business planning; financial modelling; financial strategy formulation; strategic financial management; corporate governance and risk management. As a College Board of Trustees member, Joe aims to contribute his skills and experience to improving and maintaining a sustainable financial future for the College.

Dr. Nicholas Spencer
(Appointed Trustee)

Nick has been a consultant radiologist with 25 years’ experience, specialising in head and neck, and musculoskeletal imaging. Currently, also an associate medical director for Cancer Services at the Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, he has always been an advocate for radiographer and AHP advanced and extended scope practice. He is past president of the UK Imaging and Oncology congress. Recognising the honour and responsibilities of being a trustee, Nick wants to build on the strengths of the CoR to continue its influence across healthcare.

Dr. Emma Jones
(Appointed Trustee)

Emma is a consultant clinical scientist in radiotherapy physics and head of brachytherapy physics at Guy’s Cancer Centre in London. Emma has worked for the NHS as a medical physicist for over 20 years and during that time has worked closely with radiographers, dosimetrists and technologists. Emma is honoured to have been selected as a College of Radiographers trustee. Emma has a strong interest in education, training and continuous professional development. She is an honorary senior lecturer at King’s College London and a member of the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine continuous professional development panel. Additionally, Emma has also embarked on further accredited training herself, through the higher specialist scientist training programme, obtaining her doctorate in 2022. In her role, as well as providing medical physics support to the board, she wants to support the college to achieve their strategic objectives, in particular those related to college identity, research, education and accreditation, all for patient benefit.
