As a science company with over 100 years of expertise in diagnostic imaging, Bayer are committed to developing innovative products, software, and services to help Radiology departments operate at a high level of care.  Technologically advanced injectors for CT, MR, cardiovascular imaging and nuclear medicine, and MRI contrast media are supported by a digital ecosystem of software and workflow solutions that securely manages detailed patient data, contrast data and scan data.

Bayer offers all this with expert service to ensure Radiology ecosystems are maintained to a high standard including remote support for rapid assistance.  Bayer technologies come together as an end-to-end workflow solution with the aim of helping Radiology departments achieve consistent scan results, increased diagnostic confidence and operational efficiency for the benefit of patient care.

Bayer’s Radiology business is well placed to be the partner of choice in helping radiology services address the many challenges faced today.

The challenge and clinical goal for CT contrast enhanced examinations is to achieve diagnostic contrast enhancement in the target region of interest.  Multiple factors influence contrast enhancement: patient factors, contrast medium factors and scanner factors.  The most important patient-related factor affecting the magnitude of vascular and parenchymal contrast enhancement is body weight.  Different body weight can influence enhancement when using a fixed injection protocol.  A shift from fixed to personalised protocols should be the ultimate objective.  The goal of individualising contrast protocols is a more consistent enhancement.

Whilst patient body weight is a key factor in CT imaging principles, we mustn’t forget other factors that have an impact, such as contrast medium dosing factors, iodine delivery rates and even variable CT tube voltages.  With so many principles to consider, how can today’s busy CT departments realise the goal of individualising contrast protocols?

In line with Bayer’s commitment to personalised imaging, the company introduces a premium clinical application service.  Centargo Cardio is crafted to empower imaging professionals with the ability to create a tailored cardiac CT imaging practice for their institutions, supporting high quality CCTA imaging results and improved patient care.  Bayer’s goals are to work with institutes to better understand their cardiac imaging needs and CCTA routine, to co-create tailored protocols, implement these protocols and together measure the image quality of these new protocols compared to baseline.

We look forward to the opportunity to discuss this and other topics with you at UKIO 2025 in Liverpool.
